Our Mission

Is to serve delicious food with finely crafted beer, cider, and wine in a fun for all environment while honoring Lynden’s rich heritage. We are committed to serving food and drink that is locally sourced from Lynden and Whatcom County.

The Owner:

Ron Hanson was a teacher and carpenter who raised his family in Lynden. After retiring from 28 years of teaching in the Lynden School District, he and a friend bought the old Lynden Tribune building in idyllic downtown Lynden and began construction to add six two-story apartments on top. During the construction phase it became increasingly apparent to Ron that the original space where the Lynden Tribune printed newspapers for 41 years would be a great place for a restaurant.

The idea of a pub that emphasized the history of the building was of high priority, so when Alida, Ron’s wife, suggested the “Newsroom” as the name he instantly loved it and knew they had to make it happen. And it has! In June of 2022, The Newsroom Pub opened its doors to the public, offering good brews, good food, and good news.

The Historic Building:

Upon entering The Newsroom Pub, you will be treated to a brief history of The Lynden Tribune. The 'Lynden Tribune Feature Wall' displays photos of the founding father, Sol Lewis, his family, employee, the original building and more. Read an in depth description of each photo on the plaques. Check out the Tribune artifacts found in the musty basement featured on the wall with pride!

The restaurant features the original vertical grain, tongue and groove fir ceiling held up by large fir posts and beams. Our coolest table has a glass top and a base is an authentic 1890 Chandler & Price printing pressed that was used early on at the Tribune. Find something new every time on our walls that are covered with a variety of textures, decorations and newspaper front page features from across the globe.

The Newsroom Pub has brought life into the historic Lynden Tribune building and offers a welcoming atmosphere. The decor, lighting and warm wood creates a cozy feel-good environment. Come enjoy our fantastic foods, drinks and dedicated service that will leave you with a smile on your face!
